Lahul Spiti- Pin Parvati Pass Trek

Duration: 11 Nights and 12 days
Grade: Moderate to Challenging

The Pin Parvati valley of Spiti is considered the most beautiful in the region. The trek route crossing over from the Kullu valley takes you through most spectacular landscapes, and provides an experience to remember for life. The trek begins at Manikaran and winds along the raging Parvati River till the glaciated Pin-Parbati Pass (4900m).


). After crossing the pass the trail winds along the Pin river which is a tributary of the Spiti river. We are now in a Buddhist region and here you will be able to visit some of the oldest monasteries like Ki Gompa, Tabo monastery & Kibber village and drive across the Kunzumla pass (4551m) to Manali and then to Delhi.

Day 1 : Arrive Delhi
Meet at the airport and transferred to hotel. Most international flights lands in night-stay in Delhi are recomended.


Day 02: Reaching Chandigarh
Hotel stay. Do visit ROCK GARDEN, ROSE GARDEN and SUKHNA LAKE.


Day 3 :
Travel to MANIKARAN via KULLY VALLEY


Day 04: Manikaran-Pulga: Walking Time 3-4 hrs
Manikaran at 1700m is very popular religious place where people of all faiths come to wish. Pulga 2100m is very famous among trekkers but mostly returns back. Small tea stalls and hotels are settled in apple orchards and are usually crowded with foreigners.


Day 05: Pulga-Kheer Ganga: Walking Time 4-5 hrs
Drive to Agra enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other Palaces. Overnight Agra.


Day 06: Kheer Ganga-Bhojtunda: Walking Time 5 hrs. Steay ascend to the gorge
then widens and trail crosses several beautiful pasturs supporting many types of wildflowers. There are some Gujjar/Gaddi shepherd emcampments and this will be last human settlement you will be watching. Bhojtunda is 3200m high pastur.


Day 07: Bhojtunda-Thakur Khan: Walkgint Time 4-5 hrs - Crossing through rocks and dense vegitation. You will see remains of Indian Army helicopter which crashes in high winds when trying to land-just toppled due to velocity of wind. Thakur Khan 3400m is above the cliffs.


Day 08: Thakur Khan-Mantakal Lake: Walking Time 6-7 hrs - You will be lucky if you could see any shepherd encampment. There is a natural bridge and is known as Pandu Bridge.Trail makes some ups and downs and then goes through flowered meadows. To reach Mantakal Lake 4070m, it is 200m of steep ascending over boulders which may not be tough for people who had some experience but first timer may find learning lessons.


Day 09: Manatak Lake-High Camp: Walking Time 7 hrs - Crossing terminal moraine and walking by cairns through boulders is high altitude ritual and expereinced trekkers will find it easy and first timers will be able to learn how to find route among boulders and scree of terminal moraine. In bigger climbing expeditions-even expereinced climbers had been seen loosing their 'way through'. So, this type of walking in high altitude is must to learn for people who love Himalayan treks.


Day 10: High Camp-Pin Parvati Pass-Pin valley: Walking Time 5 hrs - From high camp, steep 300m climb to a snoefield and then a small col is way to cross this legendary pass.Pin Parvati Pass 4810m is marked by cairns and prayer flags. Descending is gradual.


Day 11: Pin valley-Mud: Walking Time 8hrs - Gradual descending towards valley floor to village Mud 3600m.


Day 12: Mud-Sangam: Walking Time 4-5 hrs - A gradual walk though Spiti valley which is a landscape of its own type. Car will come to pick up and transfer to Shimla over at hotel
